End 2011 Report:
As you are well aware, unfortunately this is my last donor report I will be writing this year. The year has come to an end. It has been quite a bumpy ride which I have survived.
The fourth term went by really quickly. In the first three we pretty much wrapped up the syllabus for most of my subjects. We did a few assessments in which I did pretty well for most of them. One assessment I can highlight is the geography test for which I got 48/50(96%). After having analysed my overall performance, I feel that there's an improvement in my marks.
Exams have started. It has been a week now. I have written French paper 1 and Xhosa paper 2. Today I wrote Maths paper1. It was tough, very tricky. I managed to do the paper though. Generally, I think I'm going to get a good mark, hopefully. I have two more weeks left of writing. I am studying very hard because I want to get good marks so that I can apply for university and hopefully get an early acceptance.
University is something that I haven't really discussed with you. I am hoping to go to the University of Cape Town. I haven't reached a final decision as to what I'm going to study. However, at the moment I am looking to study somewhere in the Commerce Faculty. I have done some background research on what courses UCT offers, and I'm interested in Bachelor of Commerce in Economics or a Bachelor of Business Science in Management Studies. I am going to decide later what I want to specialise in.
Lately, I have been interested in politics. I have been watching the news a lot and doing a lot of following up on Julius Malema’s, the leader of the ANC Youth league, disciplinary hearing. The case, lead by the IEC, was concluded a week ago, and he was charged with a five year suspension for putting the ANC into disrepute. He had to vacate his office with immediate effect. This has stirred up an uproar in the nation, particularly among his supporters.
I think the Board made the right decision to temporarily remove him from the public eye, especially from the media. But the question is, will the ANC lose supporters now that he's left? Will Julius reveal the ANC's confidential information, all the corruption?
Finally, to give a general overview of this year: regardless of the ups and downs, I think it has certainly been a great year. I have learnt and experienced a lot. I feel that I have matured a bit, in terms of how I perceive things and decision-making. I hope that through these experiences I will take out the good things and learn from them in order to make 2012 a great academic, matric and social year.
I hope you are well. I hope you have enjoyed reading this report. Enjoy the festive season. Many thanks for your ongoing support.
Mid- 2011 Report:
The second term had been a tough academic term I did not find this at all surprising, as I Knew that this is the term at my midyear exams .Therefore , a lot of preparation had to take place .The exams were really tough and they were longer, in terms of the number of hours. My Maths had improved in comparison to last terms, I was extremely disappointed with my maths and biology marks. I had studied extremely hard for these subjects.
I did eventually get a Maths tutor, but he only came for one session to help me with paper 1 which I did well enough to pass, He never came back to help me. Overall, I am partially satisfied with my performance .There is still room for improvement.
This term I made the School 1st xv rugby team an outside- centre. We have won 2 games and lost 3 games. It has been a huge step up for me. My rugby has matured. The jump from to junior to senior level of rugby is huge. There is a lot of tactical planning that takes place and players have to maintain a high level of fitness through the season. Basically, it is a huge commitment .I am proud to be part of the team and to be representing the school, I cannot wait to earn my 1st team scarf at the end of the season.
My highlight of the term would definitely be Cabaret. Cabaret is a talent show with a theme-based storyline, done by only grade11’s. It has been a proud school tradition for more than a decade. A committee is elected. Their role is to organise the whole event. The theme is democratically chosen by the grade. Our theme was “The Ert locker”. The names were adopted from the movie, The Hurt Locker. The way this whole debate as to what to ert means .There was a whole lot of definitions but they were all similar. I think it means a spastic twitch.
I started after the exams. We had 2 weeks of intense rehearsing from 17H00– 21H00. Everyone was tired because of the late nights. Fortunately enough, the teachers were a bit lenient about giving out homework and giving us class work during school. All that hard work paid off as the whole production was a great success. Our friends and family really it. Everyone regarded it as their highlight of their high school career.
On June 18 it was my 17th birthday. It was on Saturday .I had to spend my day playing a match and cabaret rehearsal. It was worth it because we won our match and my grade got to sing happy birthday to me. I got lot of wishes from friends and family.
Finally the second term had been a great experience. Academically, I had learnt a lot from my mistakes. Therefore, my goal for the upcoming term will be to improve from the last term and to continue the hard work and concentration that I have been putting in.
Thank you for your support
Yours Sincerely

WHO I AM:
My name is VUSUMZI GUBENI. I am a child who respects people a lot. I like offering myself to people when they need help. I easily bond and establish good relationships.
I am a child who wants to realize the potential and leadership capacity within me. I love being at school because I want to get a good education and establish very good relationships with teachers and peers. When I am at school, I strive for perfection and excellence. By studying hard and doing nothing but my best, I will achieve my dream of becoming a scientist.
My hobbies are reading. My favourite books are all the stories written by Shakespeare. I enjoy watching movies, spending times with family and friends and playing sport (soccer, cricket and rugby). I love sport as healthy recreation and enjoyment. Sport also has a great educational value in that it not only promotes physical fitness, but also encourages teamwork and the development of self-control. All these hobbies keep me from doing bad things.
I am thankful to the KMF for my first class education. I enjoy being at my school, learning and doing my homework. At the end of the day, I get good academic results.
My Science teacher at my primary school told me that I have a very enquiring mind and a desire for knowledge and that I must continue reading since there is a world of knowledge to be gained from reading.
A poem about me as a whole person:-
Who am I in this world Who me! Oh! Yes, me Vusi, an African boy A dreamer, not a poet Not a writer Just a young boy full of dreams A young boy with a mind and heart full of knowledge, respect and love Yes, sometimes a boy to share my sorrows with those around me.
I am looking for a dish with better food on it So I can fulfil my goals and dreams A dream which will make me Something some day.
This dream hurts me day and night When I am dreaming I keep screaming But when I am screaming, I keep dreaming Dreaming about a better world to live in A dream with a better ending.
THIS IS ME AS A WHOLE PERSON THIS IS ME … VUSI GUBENI
