PREVIOUS NEWS:
This term was very interesting for me this year. An average amount of good and bad things happened. I started a new subject, Xhosa first language and I got 78% for it. I made new friends and got invited to a lot of parties at school, there was a play I went to watch. I think the name of it was “Guys and Dolls”. It was a very funny play and one of my good friends was the main character and he acted as Scott.
The biggest challenge I had to overcome was an incident on the first of March when I went out with six of my friends and they bought alcohol. On that day school closed early, but we had to go back to school at 4 pm for Founders Day. When we got to school two of my friends were drunk and one of them passed out. I had to take care of him until the ambulance came, it was very scary. This taught me not to go somewhere with my friends if I know they will do something wrong.
I am more disciplined and I look much neater in my uniform than I did previously. I think my results were the best I have had, therefore I think fewer subjects means more study time and better results.
I have set a goal for achieving a B aggregate in all my subjects; I achieved a C for History this term.
I want to try to get a holiday job because I don’t like reading books at home and watching television.
Thanks to the Kay Mason Foundation for my scholarship. I will continue to strive to do my best.
LATEST NEWS:
The second term was a short term, filled with many memories for me. This term started with me starting a new sport and it ended with me participating in the annual Grade 11 school play. As usual, I made new friends and widened my circle of friendship.
During the second term, I joined the cross-country club. I had never run cross-country before and I thought that it would be an easy sport – that it was just running, and everyday exercise. This theory of mine was soon to be disproved and I found out that cross-country was not easy at all. I discovered this after waking up the morning after the first practice with cramps running up and down my body.
Also, in the second term, I participated in the school play where I played one of the leading roles. I was also an usher and also sold food at the tuck-shop.
I improved all my marks this term, except for Geography. However, I feel that I have not worked to the best of my ability. There is no excuse for this, and I should simply work harder.
I would like to thank you for giving me this educational opportunity.
