End of 2011 Report:
My name is Danica Haarhoff, I am 15 years old and I ‘m a grade 9 pupil at Camps Bay High.
Two terms have gone by and all that I can say is that being in grade 9 is hard work, dedication, commitment and determination, not forgetting the fun part.
I’ll start off by telling you all about what happened in term 3. My academic report was okay, I improved in most of my subjects but also went down in a few. I never liked biology but now I enjoy learning about it and put a lot of effort into everything that I do which proved to me that hard work does eventually pay off.
The highlights of term 3 for me was the school fashion show, our past pupils sports day, the grade nine camp and also the grade nine subject choice meeting. The past pupils sports day took place. That day the first teams of each winter sports had to play against the past pupils. I had lots of fun because I played for the first team soccer group which was quite and experience.
On the 9th and 10th September, our school hosted our annual fashion show where the grade 11’s had to organise, manage and direct the whole show all by themselves. I went to watch on the last night and all that I can say is that it was fantastic! The grade 9 group also went on a two day camp to Llundudno where we were told about different careers that there are and what decisions to make in terms of our subjects and our future ahead. Besides all the choices that we had to make and the discussions that took place we also had our own talent show and a disco which was the best! The whole grade 9 crew got to know each other better and sorted out their differences. Last but not least was our subject choice meeting, this was a big decision that we had to make because it was based on our whole career. The subjects that I chose was for Grade 10 2012 are biology, mathematics, accounting and physical science. I took this subjects knowing that they are difficult but I believe that I will conquer them and achieve stunning results.
My personal life has not been very busy because I’ve been preparing for next term’s final exams and sacrificing a lot. My family and I have been going through a lot in terms of trying to bond more and also build some trust. My mom is still pregnant and we as a family have been supporting her.
That was the end of term 3 which was very short but still, I’ve learnt persistence is the key to life and I am looking forward to the last term of grade nine.
T E R M 4
Term four is here and it is also a short term but we have many events that will take place, exams being the most important one.
The term started off on a good note because I was invited to attend our Cultural and Sports Awards Dinner which was held on the 11th October 2011 at Suiker bossie Restaurant. We all had to be dressed formally and everything was very elegant. I went there not knowing what award I was going to win and to be honest, I was quite surprised to be the winning receipient for the Junior Girls Soccer Player Of The Year and I also won a team award because the girls soccer team won the team of the year award. I was very proud of myself.
One of the other events that took place was our annual Celebration where we reflect back on what we as a school did throughout the whole year and some awards are also awarded to some of the pupils.
Lastly, was the Valedictory where we had to say goodbye to the Senior class of 2011. It was very sad saying farewell to our close friends but our hearts were also filled with joy because they were on the road to success and slowly achieving their dreams.
My personal life has been quite challenging because there are many obstacles that I came across but with the will of God, I overcame it. My mom gave birth to a little baby girl, Abayomi who is a shining star and has brought us as a family back together where we belong.
We’ve come to a point where we are about to write our final exam, I’m nervous but excited at the same time. I have just started and so far, they have not been that difficult. I look forward to achieving outstanding results and hopefully Grade 10 is where I’m heading.
Thank you for your support. Your sincerely,
Danica
