End 2011 Report:
Second donor report time. It feels like it was just yesterday that the year started. It is customary to ask 'where has the year gone?'.
I am still in the middle of finals and I am writing maths paper two on Monday. If I had to report on the exams so far I will not lie and say it is going well, because lots of bad things have happened.
The weekend of paper one I had a truck load of errands to run and to ease the stress I gave in to over confidence. I had consoled myself by saying that I still remember most of it, just reading over the information will suffice. On the day of the paper actually went ok, although I know I did not score as high as I should have. But the upsetting part came after the paper. My friend had shown me a book called 'the answer series - life science edition' which poses typical exam type questions and provides the answers at the back of the book.
I saw that seventy percent or maybe more of paper one was in that book, the questions were identical and I do not think that is fair. Moving on to paper two I was sure to kill it, because all the sections covered in the second part of the year are my strong points.
However, I made a little mistake which proved costly. My subject teacher left us to finish the last section on our own so he can start teaching us grade twelve work. Because of this and
the fact that it is such a little section I did not study it to allocate more time to the more important sections.
I am just glad I understood what was happening in the maths paper. I am aiming to get over sixty percent so I can be in class number one for maths next year, because to be honest I am not happy with my current maths teacher and I realize that I will have to be the one to change that, which is why I have been working hard at maths.
I have enlisted the help of a bright student who is finishing matric to help me with maths. One of the top students in the Western Cape and probably the only student I know who has ever gotten one hundred percent for maths in the F.E.T phase. I struggled with a section this
entire year, but after half an hour of his tuition it all became clear as day.
With regard to extra scholastic activities, next year we will have an official under nineteen rugby squad. Also, since the school band's drummer was a matriculant, I thought maybe I could take his place. However, I learned that there are three other drummers there and that
I would have to be tutored by someone or some academy outside of school.
Greatly dismayed, I thought of giving up, but hopefully I will be able to make a plan that suits my busy schedule. I intend to go back to gym, and if that works out I will hopefully regain my pace and maybe run for the school in next years athletics.
My friend told me that we have been offered a course in design. He had shown a woman some of my drawings and she said she sees great potential. However it is in durbanville, and I do not yet know how much it will cost.
During the year, much has happened. The rugby world cup for instance. A dismal demise of South Africa almost drove me to tears. But not to worry, at the next world cup they are sure to win since I will be playing (smiling face).
We had an open stage talent show a few months ago, my group of friends took part as a modern dance crew 'eu4nik' (eu-phon-ik) and came away victorious. There has not been that much to report since school has been my main priority.
Next year I know is going to be an epic stage in my life to say the least, I just don't want to leave. I have only started to enjoy school this year, it's as if I am a little child having to leave the MacDonalds playpen to go home.
I am going to enjoy it as best I can.
Thank you very much for your support. It is extremely important to me and my education.
Mid- 2011 Report:
Where to begin?
Its been a very long 6 months there have been loads of new developments. This year I got myself a casual job, a well paying casual job and I also do designs for people, designs that include logos for businesses and pictures for decorations and it takes a lot of my time but it keeps me busy and it will look good on my university application as well as my c.v.
On the education side :
It's been tough, and I 've been finding it hard to find motivation! I have been doing
a little bit better though, I passed maths and my other subjects and I
did quite well in bio and english compared to most of the other grade
11's. I've been putting in more effort, but in the second term it just wasn't
the same, I was distracted and discouraged and stupid. But I know I 'm gonna kill
everything in the up coming term because I spent quite a while
formulating a schedule of revision throughout the term, and a very
strict disciplinary system to ensure that I don't go off course. Grade
11 isn't as hard as they said it would be but I 'm struggling to get my
marks to correspond with my statement.
I also joined the under 19 rugby team and it's been hectic but I 've
enjoyed it. We've won all our games so far.
At the beginning of term 1 the school had it's 85th anniversary
celebration, a very sophisticated gathering with all the learners and
past teachers and principles, there was music and poems read and
speeches by the honoured guests and i was hand picked to read the
German poem in front of everyone which was really nervewracking and
the lady who was conducting the poem readers struggled with me because
my tone of voice stayed the same throughout the poem and I only got it
right when I went up and read it to the school. . . Also on the topic
of Germany there were representatives from the German airline company,
Lufthansa and once again I was selected to go up and thank them on
behalf of the school for their presentation and afterward I was proud
of myself because finally I had something to show to the KMF,
something that I was acknowledged for.
Lufthansa offered an all expenses paid trip to Frankfurt, Germany
after Matric for a year. It would be for an intense training course for
a job at the head South African branch in Cape Town. My mom
wasn't really happy about it because my German teachers are "dangling
me under their noses" and she doesn't want me to go, which is really
funny. . . But she's getting used to the idea
Hopefully by my next donor report I will have more good news to
report, but until then got to keep working!

LATEST NEWS:
The beginning of the term was very exciting. Being with my friends again and meeting new people was wonderful, although there was the odd burnt bridge. I really enjoyed the first day back at school even though I knew that there was going to be a lot of pressure in grade 9, being one the hardest grades in high school and knowing that I had a big Foundation sponsoring my education so I had no choice but to work extra hard!
I was absent for a couple of days this term due to illness, therefore lost out on some work. During the term I had some health problems which was very distracting; it affected my concentration which resulted in me not paying attention in class and school. All has been sorted out. I have received most of my marks and they are quite good except mathematics and accounting.
Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to get a better education, I promise that I will get even better results next term!
