End 2011 Report:
I am sitting on my chair thinking. It’s the last lesson for the day, everyone is quiet because it’s a last lesson so we have a free time. Some pupils are listening to music, playing games, playing with their phones and others reading their books and me what am I doing?...well suddenly many things come running through my mind to write in my donor report.
The Third Term
I’m going to start with third term. WOW! What a fast term it has been, I still remember screaming and hugging my friends in those corridors full of Camps Bay High pupils; I remember it as if it was yesterday or last week. I still remember the seniors telling us that we as grade 9s make the most noise at school. That didn’t stop us from screaming at each other the whole day so that my throat was sore.
Lots of things have happened this term. On the 14th of September the day I was so happy as it was our subject choice. I remember everyone was so excited to finally choose the subject they want to do next year in grade 10. I still cannot get the sound grade 10 into my head, I was in grade 8 in 2010 and now it is going to be 2012 and I am going to be a senior, WOW! I still cannot believe it. I guess when you enjoy school you cannot see the days passing or you do not notice because you are so happy. On the subject choice evening I chose to do the following subjects:
ECONOMICS
BUSINESS
CONSUMER STUDIES
PURE MATHS
I am looking forward to working hard and dedicating myself to my work.
The Grade 9 Camp
On the 16th of September we went on a Grade 9 camps where we were taught a lot of things like self respect and discipline. At the camp, we had a lot of fun talking and bonding as a grade. We really enjoyed ourselves thank you to our teachers. And thank you to Kay Mason foundation for paying for my camp.
Academics
On the academics side I do not know what happened as I did not do very well and it saddens me because I thought I did my best. What went wrong I do not know, but in the third term I am willing to do my best. I am not going to try I am GOING to do it. The KMF have also organised for us to get extra classes where we need help. GRADE 10 HERE ESIHLE COMES.
THE BOARDING HOUSE
THE Boarding house feels like my entire family. The Boarding house has played a big role in my life as it showed me things that I did not see. It has been a privilege to be there. Thank you KMF for putting me there. At first I was asking my self how come other scholars get to live in their homes, because I was not used to the idea of living for a month or a year without my mother, but now all that has changed and I have been enjoying every single of it. I so wish the others could see the way I see it. It is so easy for us to go to school because we get picked up early on the door step. It also drops us at the school gate, when others have to wake up very early to go and stand in the cold waiting for a bus so they won’t be late for school. THANK YOU for the boarding house thank you so much KMF not forgetting the bus thank you.
Greenpop
A few KMF scholars including me went to Manenberg to plant some trees with an organisation called Greenpop. It was me, Asongezwa, Mihle, Desiree, Yaseen, Fakira, Danica, Siseko, Nelisa and Khanya and the staff , Natasha and Akhona. We enjoyed planting trees with other communities and helping other schools. It was really fun thank you to Greenpop and Natasha for organising the planting for us.
The Last Term
The fourth term is the last term of the year. I usually am frightened of final exams because they are scary. But I guess this term was not that bad, I am kidding it was great I enjoyed every last bit of it. On the 19th of October it was our school celebration where pupils showcase their talent. The event is actually focused on pupils who have excelled on their academics during the year and they get awards and rewards. I was expecting the Xhosa award and was so disappointed that I did not get it, but I got over it. I was so happy for the girl who got it.
Some KMF scholars also got awards. The best moment was when Desiree was awarded the prefects badge. That was the moment I even cried myself. Everyone at school just stood up and cheered for her, everyone was so happy for her. The following day it was our valedictory. We were saying goodbye to our matrics. Most people cried, I almost cried but “big girls do not cry” (laughing). It was great sharing tears and last laughs with everyone. This has been a great year and I enjoyed it but for now let’s close the page because I am not even halfway there. There are still three more years for me but since I am a CAMPS BAY HIGH pupil I will always STRIVE FOR THE BEST.
Thank you.

NOT FORGETTING MY MOTHER
WHO I AM:
My name is Esihle Ethel Dayimani, I am twelve years old. I am currently doing grade 7 at Vukani Primary School. I live with my mother, sister and two brothers. My mother works as a domestic worker which is exactly why I want to study, so I can be successful in life and provide for my family, and ideally not spend my life cleaning other people’s floors. When I finish my matric I would like to go to university and study social services because I want to be a social worker so that I can be able to help other children who are raised by single parents and come from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Because there are so many children out there who would love to make something of their lives but they lack the means to do so. They just need the right people to guide and lead them in the right direction.
