I’m Onele Macungco. I’m 14 years old and I was born the 17th October 1989. I live in Langa location (S.A.). I live with my two parents and my three siblings, and my one cousin brother. I’ve got five sisters. My other two sister are at Eastern Cape. In my family I am the last born. I used to attend school at Zimasa Community School. It was a black school and the teachers were very nice. I’ve got six years attending Zimasa. Now I attend Westerford High School.
I’ve got four months attending Westerford High School. At my school I enjoy playing netball and swimming. I’m not a good swimmer but I’m a good player. Since 1998 I was playing netball at Zimasa. I was a captain for under 13 girls. I enjoy reading and my favourite subjects are Maths and Geography. Why? It’s because Geography teaches me about nature and natural disasters. Maths is very important because when you are applying for a job you must have Maths. I would like to thank the Kay Mason Foundation for giving me the scholarship. May god bless all of you.
MY FIRST TERM AT WESTERFORD HIGH
During the first terms things were quite nice. The first day I went to school I was very afraid of the teachers and the students. It seemed as if I was lost. I didn’t even know where my classroom was. I met Chantelle Ova and Simile Mdladlandi. They were very friendly and the teachers were also nice.
I was playing basketball because it was a summer sport. My coach told me that I was a good player. I was very happy. During the first term I’ve learned lots of things I didn’t know (e.g.) swimming and Technology. At my school there was no pool so we were only swimming during outings on the 29th November. In Technology we were only told how to draw. Here in Westerford we use different pencils for drawing.
There were two students who were very nice and talkative. They want me to hang out with them. Now I’ve got six friends. Thembela Mafuduka, Matapelo Khombora, Simile Mdladlangi, Jessie Liebetrov, Karena Grundhlingh and Anisa Allie. During first term it was very nice.
A DAY IN MY LIFE
I’m Onele Macungco. I’m 14 years old. I live in Langa location. I used to attend school at Zimasa Community School at my location. In my story I’m going to talk about a day in my life.
A day in my life is when I was at school and my Maths teacher told me that I’m going to attend school at Westerford High School. My Maths teacher told my friends that and he didn’t tell me. My friends told me that and I was very confused and told them that they were lying. I was absent at school on that day. I became famous at school.
One day my teacher told me that I’m going to get the scholarship. I only said “ok” because I thought he was joking. He said I must go back home and tell my mother. I went back home and told my parents and my siblings. It was unbelievable they also thought I was joking.
My father was very excited and he told his employers that I’m going to get the scholarship. They were also happy. My father bought me new shoes. It was a day in my life.
