Khanya Mshubane

School: Camps Bay High

WHO I AM:

I am Khanya Mshubane and my name means bringing light and bright. I am a proud African boy who is keen to reach the goals I have set for myself. I was born on the 11th of August 1991 in the middle of the winter season. I live in Cape Town, in the suburb of Khayelitsha. I live with one parent who is my mother. We are only two in a household.

At school, the subjects that I do are my home language, which is Xhosa, and at first language level; English and Maths. I also have Physical Science and Biology along with Economics which are all subjects that I am keen about and intend as career. I see myself progressing far in life with the subjects that I choose and I will, and intend making the best of what I have chosen.

I have many goals and ambitions in life. My long term objective is one which will affect my entire time that I have at Wynberg Boys High School. It is to do the best I can, using fun and academics to live my life to the fullest at high school. I would like to look back and have no regrets about my decisions. I would also like to become Head Boy of my house, Van Riebeeck.

I am a very different person and this includes my family. It is not easy to highlight what kind of person I am. It is almost impossible to describe me with simply- put words.  I am a very passionate, determined person. I am calm and collected, but around too many people I can seem to be a two-faced person. I can say for sure that I am shy. I can seem and look angry or sad when I’m just feeling normal and am daydreaming. I can be compared to a picture with a message expressing a thousand things or having thousands of words.

The one thing about me in a picture of a thousand words, that the world would notice in a second, is that I am emotional. Whether it is life itself, sports or anything, that one word says everything about me.

My role model in sport is a soccer player who plays for Valencia, David Villa Sanchez, because he’s a player who makes anything out of nothing.  My ultimate role model whom I will look up to until the day I die is my mother. This I say because she was, and still is, always there for me, in the good times and the bad times – always.
